Private Charles Frederick Giles (5251375) - 1st Battalion Worcestershire Regiment

He joined the 1st Battalion Worcestersshire Regiment on the 25th January 1938. He served with the 1st Battalion in Palestine from 16th January 1939 to 25th August 1939. Then with them in Sudan from 26th August 1939 to 5th August 1941. On the 6th August 1941 he moved with the 1st Battalion to Egypt. During the defence of Tobruk in June 1942 he was reported missing. He was captured and became a prisoner of war first in a camp in Italy and later transferred to Stalag 344 (formerly VIII B) repatriated in May 1945. The above photo was taken at Stalag 344.
