Colonel Thomas Prince Lloyd MOLLOY (5566)

Commanded the 7th Battalion Worcestershire Regiment from June 1940 to October 1941.

Thomas Molloy was born on the 9th November 1897.

Thomas Molloy was commissioned in to the Dorset Regiment.

He was seconded to the Royal Flying Corps (R.F.C.) as a Flying Officer on the 2nd July 1916.

On the 24th April 1917 he was promoted to rank of Lieutenant and remained seconded to the R.F.C.

On the 9th June 1919 he relinquished his commission as a Lieutenant.

Promoted to the rank of Captain on the 27th December 1924.

On the 29th December 1932 he was seconded for service under the Colonial Office, with the rank of Captain.

On the 24th April 1935 he was attached to the R.W.A.F.F. (Royal West African Frontier Force ) and granted the local rank of Major.

Restored to establishment with the rank of Major on the 21st October 1938.

Major with the 2nd Battalion Dorset Regiment.

On the 29th June 1940 he was appointed to command the 7th Battalion Worcestershire Regiment, which he continued to command until October 1941.

Promoted to substantive rank of Lieut.-Colonel on the 1st August 1945.

Retired on the 31st August 1946 on account of disability and granted the honorary rank of Colonel.
