Colonel Charles LENOE

Colonel of the 36th Regiment of Foot (became 2nd Battalion Worcestershire Regiment in 1881)
Appointed Colonel on 21st April 1721 to 8th May 1732

 

Charles Lenoe entered the army in the reign of Queen Anne, his first commission bearing date the 4th of December 1704; he served under the Duke of Marlborough, and on the 21st of April 1721, Lieut.-Colonel Lenoe was promoted from the Coldstream guards to be Colonel of the 36th Regiment of Foot, from which he was removed to the 8th or King's Regiment on the 8th of May 1732, the colonelcy of which he retained until his death in December 1738.
