Lieut.-Colonel Thomas William Talbot ISAAC, D.S.O.

Commanded the 17th Battalion Worcestershire Regiment from March 1918 to June 1918.

Thomas William Talbot Isaac was born at Temple Guiting, Gloucestershire on the 25th November 1880, son of Thmos W. C. Issaac and Fanny Lucy (nee Dallaway).
Thomas was brought up and educated at Bath.

Thomas William Talbot Isaac initially joined the Militia of the 3rd Battalion, the Border Regiment as a Second Lieutenants and on the 22nd March 1899 made Lieutenant.

From the Militia he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Lancashire Fusiliers on the 18th april 1900 and was promoted to Lieutenant on the 20th October 1900.

He saw service in the South African War 1901-2 with the Mounted Infantry and was involved in operations in the Transvaal from April to June 1901, River Colony February to March 1902, Operations in Orange from March 1902 to May 1902. Operations in Cape Colony during May 1902. Awarded Queen's medal with 5 clasps.

On the 10th December 1906 he was appointed Adjutant with the 2nd Volunteer Battalion, The Norfolk Regiment and granted temporary rank of Captain whilst Adjutant. He held this appoint ment until the 31st March 1908

On the 7th November 1907 he was promoted to rank of Captain.

From the 1st April 1908 to the 9th December 1911 he was Adjutant of a Territorial Battalion in the Gloucestershire Regiment. On the 20th May 1908 he transferred from the Lancashire Fusiliers to the Gloustershire Regiment.

He landed in France on the 9th March 1915 with the 1st Battalion Gloustershire Regiment.

Promoted to rank of Major on the 1st September 1915.

On the 5th February 1916 he was seconded to a staff appointment at Camp Commondant (D.A.A.G.) which he held until the 31st July 1916.

On the 16th April 1918 he was appointed as Acting Lieutenant-Colonel to command the 17th Battalion Worcestershire Regiment.

On the 3rd July 1918 he was appointed Temporary Lieutenant-Colonel and took command of the 15th Battalion Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry and relinquishes the temporary rank of Lieut.-Colonel when he ceased to command this Battalion on the 9th September 1919.

On the 1st February 1921 he was appointed to H.Q. Staff as Assistant Provost Marshal, which he held until the 1st April 1921.

Was attached to HD.-QRS,. Units as Dep. Prov. Marshal on the 23rd January 1922.

He retired from the army on the 27th June 1923 and granted the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel.
