Lieut.-Colonel Robert Harry Edwards, T.D. (32739)

Commanded the 7th Battalion Worcestershire Regiment from November 1936 to September 1939.
Commanded the 9th Battalion Worcestershire Regiment from September 1936 to October 1939.

Born at Stourbridge on the 27th April 1895, Lieut.-Colonel Edwards was commissioned into The Worcestershire Regiment in October 1916 and served on and after World War 1 in the 7th Battalion (T.A.). He was a very keen T.A. officer and commanded the 7th Battalion from November 1936 to September 1939.

He then commanded the 9th Battalion Worcestershire Regiment from the 4th September 1939 for a short time.

During the Second World War, his war service came to an abrupt halt in November 1939 when he was retired on medical grounds, although he subsequently served as a Home Guard Company Commander.

In later years he became a regular attender at Regimental functions.

Lieut.-Colonel Edwards died at Stourbridge on 2nd April, 1980, at the age of 84. after a short illness.
