He was born at Oldbury, Worcestershire in 1878.
Son of Edward John Hampton and Hannah Hampton (nee Stanley) of Dudley Road, Oldbury, Worcestershire
Abraham Hampton married Jane Goodwin on 29th October 1899, sister of Sergeant Frederick Goodwin (6689).
He entered the theatre of war on the Gallipoli Peninsula on the 9th June 1915.
