Two Soldiers on local War Memorial

Postby corby » Sat Oct 07, 2006 8:17 pm

Hi Everyone,
I am researching the soldiers from my village war memorial in Hurst, Berks and would like to find out more about two WW1 Worcs Regt soldiers:

12971 Frederick White 4th Bn
From medal card: served overseas from 25 April 1915 (Gallipoli), VM, BWM, Silver War Badge, discharged
From CWGC: Died 28/10/17 aged 28, buried Hurst, Berks.

I am trying to find out when he enlisted, when he was discharged and if his discharge/death were due to wounds.

29979 (John) Harry Priest 1/7 Bn
From medal card: VM, BWM, No Star so presumably served overseas after 1915
From CWGC: Died 16/06/18 aged 20, buried Montecchio Precalcino Cemetery.

I am trying to find out when he enlisted and when he went overseas.

Their service records have not survived in WO363 at the National Archive.
Thanks for your help,

Corby.
