General George Grogan

Postby Boylan » Tue May 05, 2015 1:53 pm

My wife is in the last weeks of submitting a PhD on the motivation of the soldiers who joined the largely volunteer battalions of Churchill’s failed North Russian Relief Force (‘NRRF’) against the Bolsheviks in and around Archangel in 1919. What caused each of these men to want to go on fighting after the First World War? George Grogan VC was amongst those who went on after WW1 had ended to join (and command part of) the NRRF; it is this specific connection and his motivations we need to research, albeit at the last moment. We have been looking for a while and have found very little on his personal motivations; any writing by him, letters etc., would be most helpful.

Thank you so much, in advance, and I look forward to hearing from you,

My very best regards

Mark Boylan
My wife’s junior sub-assistant associate researcher.
